Emma Hutchings
I am a Film Studies graduate and Freelance writer, blogger and reviewer from the UK. At University I studied a wide range of topics including Film History, Foreign Film, The Film Industry, Genre and Auteur theory, Hollywood, Storytelling and Adaptation. For my third-year dissertation I wrote a comparison between 'light' and 'dark' comic-book movies, comparing superhero films like Spider-Man, Superman and X-Men with graphic novel adaptations such as Sin City, 300 and The Crow.
I currently maintain my own blog, Suspend Your Disbelief, which provides film reviews, articles, trailers, videos and features. I am a daily contributor for the ideas and inspiration website PSFK. I write film reviews and watch DVD screeners for a UK website called Flickfeast. I also write regular news stories for the popular website and Google News provider, Flickering Myth.
I am a huge film fan with a passion for everything movie-related. My favourite genres are sci-fi and fantasy and my favourite films are Aliens, Blade Runner, Leon, Jaws and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I also enjoy rock and indie music, sci-fi/fantasy TV series and novels, video games, lo-fi photography and comedy.
